The
London Cantata Choir welcomes new singers, so long as they can make a good
sound, have sight reading ability and can absorb new music readily without
"note bashing".
Rehearsals
take place only when the choir arrives at a venue - typically 12:00 noon start
on a Saturday for a full weekend. Members are sent details of bookings for
the year in advance and sign up for whatever they want to do. The only
commitment is to sign up for bookings, turn up on time and enjoy the experience
of singing wonderful music in lovely buildings. This
means that it is necessary to have a large list of singers, although we try to
achieve the 8, 6, 4, 6 balance which allows comfortable resources for
double choir music.
There is no subscription to the
choir, however there is an opportunity at each event for singers to make a small
contribution to choir expenses. Singers make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation. All music
is provided, as are red cassocks and surpices. Admission to the choir is by audition. We can
arrange for you to meet the choir at an singing venue in order that you can see what we
do and to be auditioned there and then.
To apply for an
audition, please
email Daniel Tucker, Membership Secretary giving details of your musical experience and how we can contact you.
